We began studying Islam on Monday. Students will have an extensive map test on Thursday labeling cities, countries and geographical regions of the Middle East. Although the Middle East is not the only place where Muslims live, it is the center of Muslim life and students should know where these places are located! The thesis paper for Judaism is due Friday. Students should also be talking about their Islam presentations. Today they had an opportunity to create groups (if they wanted) and decide on their topics. I plan on beginning presentations next Thursday. We will be discussing the history of Islam and the impact of Muslim theocracies in addition to the Arab-Israeli Conflict, the Iraqi War, September 11th and Islamic fundamentalism over the next few weeks.
