Back from China, Checking in!

Hello students! I have to apologize that I couldn’t update this page in China. Oftentimes the internet was blocked for foreigners or really expensive. There were riots ocurring in the northern parts of China so the government cracked down on internet usage. I had a great trip and witnessed a lot of amazing scenery, history, people and places. We went to Guizhou Province, the 2nd poorest province in China. It was heartbreaking to see the living conditions in these very poor and remote areas. We had to travel by bus to get to some of these locations–3 hours on muddy roads! We brought gifts and food to the people–as well as necessary living items. Quite an eye-opener! All Americans should have experiences like that! We also traveled further westward to Lijiang-about 100 miles from Tibet and Myanmar (burma). A very interesting place–we stayed in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas! Then we headed back to Shanghai and experienced the big city life! It was like NYC! I hope your summers are going well and you are having some time to relax and enjoy life!

WHAP students–Make sure you try to accomplish your summer reading assignments! It will make life so much easier for you when school starts! Email me if you have questions. Mrs. S.
