About Me

Mrs. Snyder

Hello! I thought you might want to learn a little about me to begin our year. I have been teaching for 11 years, six of those with Des Moines Schools. I taught at Carlisle High and East High previously. I earned my Master’s of Science in Education degree at Drake University in May 2007 with an emphasis in curriculum writing. 2008-2009 school year I taught World Civilizations and AP US History. This school year, 2009-2010 I am teaching AP US History (APUSH) and AP World History (WHAP!)

My undergraduate degree is in history and secondary education from the University of Iowa-go Hawks! My areas of emphasis were US History, World History and Psychology. I live in Carlisle with my husband, Matt, and two children-Katherine, 8, and Riggen, 5. When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, exercising and hanging out with my friends and family.

This summer I will be traveling to China for three weeks and vacationing in Michigan with family. I am excited to go to China and bring back lots of great artifacts and stories for you! I also plan on reading, reading, reading!
