About Me

Mrs. Snyder

Hello! I thought you might want to learn a little about me to begin our year. I have been teaching for 12 years, seven of those with Des Moines Schools. I taught at Carlisle High and East High previously. I earned my Master’s of Science in Education degree at Drake University in May 2007 with an emphasis in curriculum writing. I have taught an assortment of classes at Central Academy including 8th grade government, World Civilizations, AP World History, AP US History and a new one this year: 9th grade World History: People and Places.

My undergraduate degree is in history and secondary education from the University of Iowa-go Hawks! My areas of emphasis were US History, World History and Psychology. I live in Carlisle with my husband, Matt, and two children-Katherine, 10, and Riggen, 6. When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, scrapbooking, exercising and hanging out with my friends and family.

Last summer I traveled to China for three weeks and had a great time! This summer I vacationed in Minnesota with the family and sold/bought a new house!
